Steps to Add a cPanel Email Account to Mobile Outlook with SSL (Port 993)
- Install and Open the Outlook App
- Download the Microsoft Outlook app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) if you haven’t already.
- Open the app on your mobile device.
- Start Adding an Account
- If this is your first account, tap Get Started.
- If you already have an account set up, tap the menu icon (three lines in the top-left corner), then tap the gear icon (settings) in the bottom-left corner. Scroll down and select Add Mail Account > Add Email Account.
- Enter Your Email Address
- Type your full cPanel email address (e.g., yourname@yourdomain.com) in the provided field.
- Tap Continue or Add Account.
- Choose Manual Setup (IMAP)
- Outlook may attempt to auto-configure the account. If it fails or you want to ensure SSL with port 993, tap Advanced Settings or Manual Setup (this option may appear as a question mark (?) or “Change account provider” on some versions).
- Select IMAP as the account type. (Note: Outlook mobile does not support POP3 on some versions.)
- Enter Incoming Mail Server Settings (IMAP)
- IMAP Hostname: Enter the server hostname provided by your cPanel hosting provider (e.g., mail.yourdomain.com or serverX.web-hosting.com). You can find this in your cPanel under Email Accounts > Set Up Mail Client.
- Port: Set to 993.
- Security Type/Encryption: Select SSL/TLS.
- IMAP Username: Enter your full email address (e.g., yourname@yourdomain.com).
- IMAP Password: Enter the password for your cPanel email account.
- Enter Outgoing Mail Server Settings (SMTP)
- SMTP Hostname: Use the same server hostname as the incoming server (e.g., mail.yourdomain.com or serverX.web-hosting.com).
- Port: Set to 465.
- Security Type/Encryption: Select SSL/TLS.
- SMTP Username: Enter your full email address (e.g., yourname@yourdomain.com).
- SMTP Password: Enter the same password as above.
- Finalize the Setup
- Double-check all settings to ensure they match the above configuration.
- Tap Sign In, Done, or Next (depending on your app version) to save and connect the account.
- Outlook will test the connection. If successful, you’ll see a confirmation screen.
- Access Your Email
- Once added, your cPanel email account will sync, and you can start sending and receiving emails via the Outlook app.
Notes
- Server Hostname: Replace mail.yourdomain.com with the actual server name provided by your hosting provider. Check cPanel’s Email Accounts > Set Up Mail Client for the exact details.
- SSL/TLS: Using port 993 for IMAP and 465 for SMTP ensures a secure, encrypted connection.
- Troubleshooting: If the connection fails, verify your email password, server hostname, and ports. Ensure your hosting provider allows SSL connections and that no firewall is blocking these ports.
